Ok I think it's official. I have gone coupon crazy. It is 1 a.m. on a Saturday night...well, Sunday morning now and I am still up looking for coupons, signing up for blogs, money saving sites etc. and researching coupons. I've been thinking of combining two of my passions writing and saving money into a blog for about 6 months now but just haven't done it. It seems everyone has a blog about saving money or couponing. But hey, that doesn't mean that I can't have one too right? I decided that now is the time to start. Now, at 1 a.m. on a Sunday morning. My kids are asleep, I'm learning alot and there is NO ONE to talk to about it right now. I had to voice my excitement somewhere.
My beginning of couponing and saving money started off with a bang in November of 2010. I went nuts clipping coupons, organizing, researching ads and making lists. My first haul was a pretty impressive save for my first time of about $118.00 for about $300.00 worth of groceries. Then I made it my mission to buy everything needed for Thanksgiving dinner for as little as possible. For 4 adults and 3 children I was able to feed all of us for just over $20.00 including dessert!! I was hooked! But....I got busy with holidays, two kids birthdays and got sidetracked. I will face it now, I also got lazy. Then a few weeks ago my 8 year old saw a commercial for the new show 'Extreme Couponing' on TLC and told me she wanted to watch it. Why an 8 year old had an interest in that show I have no idea, but we watched it and it all came back to me!! Now both of my daughters (the other is 11) and I DVR every episode and watch them more than once. I happen to live in Utah and the stores hear don't double coupons so I won't be able to get quite the savings that some of these extreme couponers get but that doesn't mean I can't try. So...here I am, up at 1:11 a.m. couponing and won't likely be sleeping anytime soon. I am also realizing that this blog is probably horribly written due to the time, cloud of thoughts in my head, excitement to write this (and get back to my coupons) and the Real World playing in the background. I promise to write better blogs later :) Just had to share my excitement somewhere!!
